Balancing Shadow Work with Light Work

Hello Beautiful Souls,

I hope you’ve enjoyed the sweet song of summer and are welcoming the fragrant winds of fall.

As we cross the threshold from one season to the next, I’ve relearned the utility of balance, that while digging down into the depths it is also important to nourish the seeds of what I want to harvest. Balancing the dark with the light, the pain with the pleasure, the challenge with the gift. One without the other is either too dark and depressing or too shallow and ungrounded.

I did some deep diving during my recent vacation and personal retreat, mostly around my fear of being seen, which rears it’s lovely head every time I launch a business.
Challenging to say the least.
It gets very dark down here, especially as the cultural overlays get dug into (burnings, torture, persecution, etc.).
And, as always, it’s incredibly insightful and freeing.

I shifted as much as I could for me and the human pain body and got so intent on clearing it all that I got overwhelmed for a few days before realizing what was missing…
Balancing… allowing all that pain while also cultivating the gifts that were entangled in it.

This refocus, this balance, changed everything.
So many things opened, released and renewed.

That dive, topped off with a beautiful healing session by my friend Nicole, resulted in cresting into a whole new way of being human.

In my experience, I don’t get rid of these roots, instead I support and nourish them in a safe space so that they can relax, release the pain that they hold (so that they don’t take over anymore) and reshape into the gifts that they are…
The process of healing allows me to understand what innate skills these painful behaviors derive from, and then to cultivate them as super powers instead of super villains.

In my case, my fear of being seen was deriving from my capacity to connect with and be a part of the subtler aspects of human ‘mind.’ That was quite a deep dig, and it was rough going there until it hit me that the balance was missing. Ahhhhh. Yes. Of course.

All told, it was a wonderfully transformative and pleasurable practice.
And all it took was a little bit of balance.
